Porto Alegre OSUG meeting May 29th
Yesterday we had our meeting here in Porto Alegre. We are evolving a little bit at each meeting, and some goals like:
1- PoaOSUG’s web site new design;
2- Fixed date and hour for our meetings;
3- A formal structure for our meetings:
a) First the general discussions;
b) Second the tech-talk;
4- Our first tech-talk (solaris containers)
5- Make the presentations available (slides, docs, etc)
6- LIVE Streaming;
I did the presentation yesterday, and have made a brief talk about solaris zones, brandz, containers, and did a presentation about the screencasts i have created some time ago:
The first is a screencast about the configuration of a solaris 10 machine running on a host with 2 processor cores, AMD64, and explain how to isolate one processor for use by the GLOBAL zone, and leave the other core for the other 10 zones.
The second uses the FSS scheduler to control the use of the zones’ processor, configuring at least 10% of the processor resources for each zone.
And there is this screencast to explain how we can configure memory caps for zones, using projects. When i did make that screencasts, there was no mset capabilities on solaris/opensolaris yet.
And the last one is for web hosting, and explain how to configure one zone to provide the actual web services (read only to the web pages, eg.: www.somedomain.com), and just writing log and pid files. And another zone to update the pages, read-write access for the pages but read-only access for the log and pid files (eg.: ftp.somedomain.com).
That’s all, hope to see you in the next meeting!
