Globo.com and MySQL, part II
Ok, sometime ago i did this post about globo.com using open source softwares, and the phrase “We are moving from Oracle to MySQL“, did create some comments on my blog like this. Now i did update that post with the presentation’s video (FULL), so you can watch the whole presentation!
You can watch and download the video directly on the linuxpark site.
ps.: Brazilian portuguese.
Hi Leal,
In France, lots of not so minor companies have initiated the same move simply because they realized that many open source products had improved and become reliable, flexible and just the “we get what we need” stuff. On the opposite, few proprietary softwares had a decent price / quality ratio and were too often oversized and misadapted. Period.
Um abraço.

Hi Arnaud,
I think France is an example in open source adoption. I dont think open source software is the answer for *everything*, but the opposite is wrong too. When oracle becomes too *expansive*, the companies start to think about other *options*…
Thats why i think is always good to have options. Many people ask why gnome, kde, debian, gentoo, nexenta, belenix..? Because when we have just one answer for the question, one day or another we will have none.
Thanks a lot for your feedback!
Une accolade,
Leal
